India - TEST Squad

Anil Kumble (c)
MS Dhoni (wk)
Rahul Dravid
Sourav Ganguly
Harbhajan Singh
Wasim Jaffer
Dinesh Karthik
Murali Kartik
Zaheer Khan
VVS Laxman
Rudra Pratap Singh
Sreesanth
Sachin Tendulkar
Yuvraj Singh

Players to Watch:

VVS Laxman would be out to impress - this might pretty well be his last series. A bad performance in the first match might allow Yuvraj Singh to play the remaining two matches. Though I have a feeling that Yuvraj might still feature in the team as he is pretty much in the form of his life.

Anil Kumble in his first match as Captain at the twilight of his career would be out to silence his critics too.

Sure to be one hell of an exciting series.

Pakistan - TEST Squad

Shoaib Malik (c)
Younis Khan (vc)
Abdur Rehman
Danish Kaneria
Faisal Iqbal
Kamran Akmal (wk)
Misbah-ul-Haq
Mohammad Sami
Mohammad Yousuf
Salman Butt
Sarfraz Ahmed (wk)
Shoaib Akhtar
Sohail Tanvir
Umar Gul
Yasir Hameed

Players to watch:

Sohail Tanvir
- He would be looking at making his TEST debut and was definitely the best of the Pakistani bowlers in the ODI series.

Younis Khan and Mohd. Yousuf - Yousuf and Younis would prove to be a deadly duo and a century from each would be a minimum guarantee.

Pakistan win the 5th ODI. India win the Series

A Captain's knock along with a sterling bowling performance by Shoaib Malik saw Pakistan win the final ODI played at Jaipur. The victory added a certain hint of respectability to the series outcome.

Yuvraj Singh won yet another Man of the Series award and was all set to hit a century and guide India to victory before he was wrongly declared out.

This India vs Pakistan encounter is definitely going to be the most crucial one of the series. Victory for either team would ensure that they become the favourites to win the series. The selectors have retained the same Indian squad for the remainder of the series. Though it might be sad for Rahul Dravid - no one in the squad deserves to be dropped.

2nd ODI - Pakistan beat India by 4 wickets

It was a dramatic chase by Pakistan and they pulled it off in stunning style to level the series a 1 all after the first two games.

Earlier in the day Sachin Tendulkar led the Indian batting attack and at one point a score of 350 seemed easy. But the Master fell yet again on 99 and the after a collapse India crawled to 321.

Pakistan never looked to be in the chase, but they never looked down and out either. The required around 190 in the last 20 overs and thats when Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan kept taking the singles and hitting the odd four in the over.

Towards the end, one boom boom Afridi over stole the game for India and Indians managed to clutch defeat yet again from the jaws of victory.

India vs Pakistan - Next Match (2nd ODI, Mohali)

When is the next India vs Pakistan match?
Well it's a day and night fixture to be played at Mohali tomorrow (November 8, 2007). Live telecast begins at 2:30 PM on Neo Sports and of course Live Commentary and Live Scores would be available here.

India takes a 1-0 lead into the match with 4 games yet to play. Ganguly, Gambhir, Yuvraj and Dhoni all got useful knocks in the first game but the pressure will remain on all of them to perform because others are knocking on the door.

Sehwag was in pretty good form in the NKP Salve Challenger trophy. But the main threats would be coming from Suresh Raina and Rahul Dravid. Raina was the man of the series in the Challenger trophy and followed it up with a double ton for UP against Orissa. Rahul Dravid also hit a double century and it came against a pretty strong Mumbai bowling attack and these two definitely need to be in the team...but the problem is that who can be dropped? Or 'rested'? Definitely not Robin Uthappa?! Or how about Sachin Tendulkar?

Anyways this one is going to be a great match. The Mohali pitch always favours the faster bowlers and with Winter just around the corner - the dew factor would be playing an important role too.

Mohali is one of the most beautiful stadiums in India and the crowd is sure going to be awarded with a great match!

Predictions? Gambhir to grab man of the match! Yousuf to continue piling on the runs for Pakistan.

1st ODI (Guwahati) - India beat Pakistan by 5 wickets

India have beaten Pakistan by 5 wickets in the 1st ODI of the current series. Nehru Stadium, Guwahati witnessed a pretty solid Indian performance and at no stage of the match did it look like the Indians were under pressure.

Excellent bowling especially from the spinning duo of Murali Kartik and Harbhajan Singh limited the Pakistanis to a modest total of 239. Gambhir and Ganguly set a solid chasing platform and the young guns Dhoni and Yuvraj guided the Indians to a comfortable victory.

MS Dhoni was awarded the Man of the Match though I feel it should have been jointly shared by the spinners Kartik and Harbhajan.

Here are some video moments from the Presentation Ceremony at the end of the match:
